How Do We Take Time Off?

For you and for your work…in your day, week, month, year, life.

What is the shape of your work? There are a lot of variables that factor in - some that let us sculpt how we do our work, some that feel like they define it for us. Together let’s consider these variables to ensure we are creating the work life and non-work life that supports us, our work and what we want for ourselves as well as the business we are creating.

Join Leigh Tillman Facilitation, the Uproot Pie Company, and peers for this half day experience of considering the shape you are giving and want to give to your work throughout the week, different seasons, and into the future. Together we will look at the dynamics and actions that clarifying this shape entails for each of us.

This workshop is designed for entrepreneurs, small business owners, contractors, and anyone who wants to:

  • Learn from peers what they are considering and wondering about in shaping their work and life within their week, season, year

  • Create parameters around our work to make space for other aspects of life

  • Determine what systems, conversations with our team and clients, and messaging would support the sculpting we’d like to do

  • Look at cultural narratives that influence how we feel about conveying that we are not working or unavailable at certain times

  • Consider how we might utilize this practice to also work on big picture aspects of our work by creating windows, rhythms, and sabbaticals in which to make headway on larger projects, planning, creation, or reflection on shifts we want to make in our work and lives

This may sound like it is not about work – but this is for our work too. We will look at the shape it takes and where we want it to not take up space – so our work can thrive within the boundaries we set around it. We can then ask the question, what does our work need to thrive within the parameters we need and want to set around it.

So that when stepping away from work, we feel like we are enacting our plan - and can really set work down more fully.

Come away with:

  • Ideas of ways to continue sculpting your work to best suit you

  • Specific next steps in shaping your work to fit your life

  • Future goals on this topic and ways to stay in touch with them and move toward them

This theme comes up a lot within our peer network and it feels vital to discuss this together as we determine how we want to approach this in our lives, our work, and our community.

  • -Women entrepreneurs and small business owners of noncompetitive businesses as well as contractors and others who want to delve into this topic

-Women who want to do this together – to have peers to support and be supported by in your work

Participant Testimonials

“I loved this workshop. The thoughtful, intelligent, organized, and fluid approach Leigh brings to the subject made me instantly feel at ease. Leigh is warm, sincere, and always aware of how we are moving through each step, and bringing clarity to any confusion. My journal was my anchor and I took copious notes. Jess is the ideal partner for this experience because she and Leigh have worked together and have a lively, respectful rapport. Jess attends as a student but also as the host and owner of the wonderful Carriage House venue. She brings humor and experience from being a student of Leigh’s. And last but not least!~ the snacks, coffee, and lunch homemade by Jess’s team were totally delicious.”
